This paper proposes a new congestion control of Multi-Path TCP (MPTCP) for improvement of Quality of Experience (QoE). This method controls the congestion window for each subflow so as to suppress the fluctuation of Quality of Service (QoS). The fluctuation of QoS is estimated from that of the Round Trip Time, and the congestion window is controlled according to the estimated fluctuation. The authors implemented the proposed method and evaluate QoS by experiment. The experimental results show that the proposed method can suppress the fluctuation of QoS as compared with the existing congestion controls of MPTCP under congestion.

This paper develops a wireless local area network (LAN) base station with quality of service control based on Web quality of experience (QoE) by bandwidth control and priority control; it evaluates the performance of the developed system by experiments with subjects. By using the relationship between importance of data of a Web service and the distribution of the length of IP packets, the base station can reduce the bandwidth consumption over a wireless LAN without worsening of QoE. The authors have implemented by adopting two technologies for priority control: OpenFlow and Wi‐Fi multimedia. In the experiment, the authors treat three actual Web services and assess QoE for them. From the experimental results, the authors show the effectiveness of the developed base station.

Abstract:
This paper discusses the most appropriate transmission rate of IEEE 802.11 wireless LAN based on QoE for Web services. Since some QoS parameters have trade-off relationship between each other for the transmission rate, it is difficult to decide the appropriate value of the rate. Thus the authors clarify the relationship between QoE and QoS for Web services by the linear multiple regression analysis. They then adapt measured values of the packet loss rate and those of RTT as QoS parameters for the relationship, and estimate the transmission rate which maximizes the QoE. The authors targeted two actual Web services; shop service and map service; they performed experiments. Their experimental results show that the highest satisfaction can be given when the transmission rate are 9.125 Mb/s and 24.472 Mb/s for the shopping service and the map service, respectively. -

This paper studies enhancement of Multi-Path TCP(MPTCP), which is one of new transport-layer protocols of TCP/IP protocol suites, by IP routing for improvement of Quality of Experience for a Web service (WebQoE). In order to confirm the effect of IP routing on WebQoE, the author performed experiments with subjects. In the experiment, the subjects assess Quality of Experience of two actual Web services for different paths under 5 experimental environments. The author utilizes Web usability as QoE parameters. The results show that it is desirable to use appropriate routing for MPTCP enhancement in order to improve Web- Quality of Experience.

Study of the Effect of the Mean and Standard Deviation of Response Time on QoE in Web Services Reviewed International journal

Language:English Publishing type:Research paper (international conference proceedings) Publisher:IEEE
This paper assesses the influence of the mean and the standard deviation of the response time on Quality of Experience(QoE) for a Web service by experiments with subjects. In the experiments, the authors target actual two Web services over the Internet: map service and shopping service; they assess QoE with three scales which are based on ISO924111 usability. And then, the authors reveal the relationship the RTT and the QoE parameters by the linear regression analysis. Our experimental results show that QoE of the map service is affected by the standard deviation of the RTT more strongly than the mean of the RTT while QoE of the shopping service is influenced by the mean more than the standard deviation. Therefore, for the map service, QoS control which is reducing the packet loss by buffering and so on to maintain WebQoE. On the other hand, for the shopping service, QoS control which is reducing the delay is appropriate.

ThispaperstudiestheeffectoftheQoSdegradation on WebQoE with personal digital assistant (PDA) by experiment. In the experiment, the authors utilize three types of terminals: PDA, tablet PC and desktop PC; they assess QoE for two actual Web services. The experimental results show that the effect of QoS degradation on QoE with PDA is less than that of a desktop PC for one service. However, for the other service, little different between the effects is recognized. As a result, the paper confirms that the effect of QoS degradation on QoE depends on the type of a terminal.

This paper studies a novel method of an electronic book Webcast service with electromyography. The proposed method has the following three features. First, we can perform the proposed method at a low cost. Second, the method does not heavily load down users. Finally, the method is portable so we can do it in many situations. This paper did experiments with 18 subjects for an actual Electronic Comics Webcast service. The experimental results show that it is effective for assessing degree of fatigue of the service to utilize the method.

This study proposes a novel method of evaluating hierarchical relationship between QoS and QoE for Web services by utilizing the path analysis and the principal component analysis. The proposed method shorten the number of QoS parameters each layer with the principal component analysis; it then clarify the relationship between the QoS and the QoE by performing the path analysis. To confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method, this paper does experiments with subjects for the three actual Web services and analyzes the relationship between QoS and QoE from the results by the proposed method. The experimental results show the effectiveness of this method.

Development of QoE Initiated Wireless LAN Base Station with DPI Based QoS Control Reviewed International journal

Proceedings of IEICE APNOMS 2016 2016.10
Language:English Publishing type:Research paper (international conference proceedings) Publisher:IEICE
In this paper, the authors develop a novel wireless LAN base station with DPI(Deep Packet Inspection) based QoS control, which can maintain QoE during congestion. In the QoS control, the base station always monitors the file type which is found in HTTP messages encapsulated in an IP packet and prioritizes the packet. Since the control is light weight, it can be easily implemented a LAN base station. The authors developed a prototype of the wireless LAN base station with WMM; and they evaluate it by QoE assessment with subjects for actual two Web services. From the experimental results, the authors show the effectiveness of the developed wireless LAN station.

This paper studies an appropriate TCP congestion control for a Web service from a user’s point of view by experiment. In the experiment, trying some congestion controls on both of a Web server and a Web client, the
authors assess QoE for a Web service. This paper considers a Web shopping service as a target one and uses three major congestion controls: TCP Cubic, TCP Vegas and TCP Illinois. The experimental results show that the effect
of the difference between the three congestion controls is not remarkable. However, in some case, when a Web client adopts TCP Vegas, the QoE for the Web service can be degraded. They confirm that the difference between congestion controls on the Web client can also affect QoE for the Web server.
