    This paper introduces technological trends related to Ethernet-based in-vehicle networks to support the next generation of automobile society. Ethernet-based networks are considered high-speed and highly reliable in-vehicle networks to realize new mobility services such as fully autonomous driving and MaaS. Ethernet-based in-vehicle networks will also use the IEEE 802.1TSN standard to transmit safety-related data with low latency and high reliability. IEEE 802.1TSN consists of many standards covering many areas, such as time synchronization, quality control, and network management. Thus, an IEEE 802.1TSN profile is required, depending on the purpose. An IEEE 802.1TSN profile for automobiles is being developed, but its future is still unclear. Therefore, this paper describes the technological trends of next-generation in-vehicle networks, focusing on IEEE 802.1TSN.
