    The use of cooperative nodes is effective
    for enhancing the reliability of
    wireless data transmission
    between a source and a destination by means of transmit diversity effect.
    However, in its application to wireless multi-hop networks,
    how to form cooperator candidates and then how to select cooperative nodes out of them
    have been rarely discussed.
    In this paper, we propose two selection methods
    of cooperative nodes based on
    ``the literal triangle'' and ``fading/blocking'' criteria
    and evaluate their performances
    in an environment often encountered
    in industrial factories.
    Computer simulation results demonstrate that
    the simple literal triangle selection method can perform
    comparable to the complicated fading/blocking selection method.

    This paper compares the indoor tracking performance for a moving target
    between an IIR (Infinite Impulse Response) low pass filter and a particle filter.
    It reveals that,
    in the computer simulations where the motion of a target exactly follows
    the state transition model in the particle filter, the particle filter-based
    tracking system outperforms the IIR low pass filter-based tracking system.
    On the other hand, in the experiments where the motion of a target
    is really unpredictable and does not always follow the state transition model,
    the IIR low pass filter outperforms the particle filter.
    It concludes that the IIR low pass filter-based tracking system is advantageous in reality,
    because it requires far less computational cost and shows better tracking performance.

    To improve the performance of
    a received signal strength indication (RSSI)-based maximum likelihood (ML) location estimation method,
    we have so far proposed an area layout-based maximum a posterirori (MAP) location estimation method
    for a stationary target.
    For the MAP location estimation,
    we have derived the priori probability density function of a target location,
    and shown the improvement of the estimation accuracy
    by computer simulations, experiments and
    theoretical analyses.
    In this paper, we introduce the area layout-based MAP estimation technique
    to location tracking with an infinite impulse response (IIR) filter and a particle filter
    for a moving target.
    The results of experiments demonstrate that
    the area layout-based MAP estimation technique can improve the location estimation performance
    for not only a stationary target but also a moving target.
    Furthermore, our experiments show that
    the MAP location tracking with the IIR filter
    outperforms that with the particle filter
    in terms of the estimation accuracy and the computational complexity.
