    Worldwide Interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX) based on the IEEE 802.16 standard has become one of the most promising wireless technologies and been widely
    applied for the provision of broadband wireless access in the fourth-generation communication networks. In this paper, we investigate the performance of IEEE 802.16 wireless networks with the contention-based bandwidth (BW) request scheme in non-saturation mode.
    Taking into account the buffer content as well as the backoff stage and backoff counter processes , we model the dynamics of the contention BW request scheme by a 3-dimensional Markov chain. We derive its steady state probability using the spectral analysis method and
    obtain some key performance measures such as system efficiency, loss probability, mean number of packets in the buffer and mean head-of-line (HoL) delay. These results are useful in determining an optimization configuration for the efficient operation of the IEEE 802.16 wireless networks.

    n the majority of IEEE 802.11 series wireless networks, the quality of service (QoS) requirements are
    related to the queueing behavior of buffers in mobile stations, e.g., the buffer stability, overflow probability and packet delay, etc.. Thus, it is important to accurately evaluate the performance of such networks in non-saturation environments. In this paper, we analyze the IEEE 802.11e enhanced distributed channel access (EDCA) wireless network under finite load. We develop an analysis model by a 3-dimensional Markov chain and derive its steady state distribution using the spectral method. We present a variety of performance measures including the buffer stability, the collision probability, the non-saturation throughput and the probability generating function of Head-of-Line delay (HoL-delay). For IEEE 802.11e EDCA wireless networks, these results are very useful in optimizing the network architecture and system parameters under the given QoS requirements.

  • Waiting time distribution for the discrete-time MAP/D/K queue

    In this paper, we study the stationary waiting time distribution for the discret-time MAP/D/K queue controlled by the multi-threshold service. Combinining the Crommelin's method and the stochastic complementation technique, we establish and associated single queue with bulk service, which has the same wating time distribution as the original MAP/D/K. We derive its stationary waiting time distribution using the absorbing Markov chain approach.

    本研究では3-次元マルコフ連鎖を用い非飽和状態のIEEE802.11無線通信ネットワークをモデリングし、スペクトル方法でマルコフ連鎖の定常分布を求め、システムの性能評価を行いました。スペクトル法でIEEE802.11無線通信ネットワークの解析は世界で初めての試みです。研究結果は無線通信ネットワークのデザイン及びサービス品質管理に応用できます。

    本研究で,多重閾値コントロールポリシーをもつ離散時間Geo/D/K待ち行列の待ち時間の定常分布について解析を行った。具体的に,まず,Stochastic complement 方法でシステムをK個の子システムに分解し,それぞれの子システムに対し,Crommelin の方法で待ち行列長の条件付き定常分布を求めた。それから,システムの定常待ち時間の分布を求めるアルゴリズムを与えた。
