    In recent years, along with the increasing sophistication of mobile terminals, systems have been produced to estimate a user’s position using global positioning system (GPS) technology of smartphones and tablet terminals. Some systems use augmented reality (AR) to present a route to the user destination. However, most such systems only show a direction of travel and signs using AR, lack affinity from the viewpoint of humans, and have some points for which GPS cannot be positioned accurately indoors. Therefore, for this study, we developed a mixed reality (MR) navigation system that can set navigation indoors freely without depending on GPS. The system can also present intuitive routes.

    Because of the diversification of network service requirements, agent-oriented computing is attracting attention as a means of realizing flexible systems. A learning agent adds “learnability”, which produces optimal behavior based on results of past behaviors. The learning agent can perform flexible and efficient actions by learning. Learning agents often deal with problems where uncertain factors such as stochastic events affect the outcome. This uncertain factor adversely affects the learning opportunities to educate the learnability of agents. Furthermore, such problems present obstacles to the training of learning agent system developers. Therefore, we investigated whether a tool that enables efficient education considering uncertain factors such as probabilistic events is effective for the education of learning agent developer.

    For this study, we design a development support module to assist an agent system developer in avoiding environmental dependence risks. Importing container technology can ensure task process programs running in a reliable environment. The proposed mechanism specifically addresses simplification of the processes of container import and optimization of container scheduling. Finally, the proposed mechanism is verified through experimentation.

    In recent years, network service users have requested various services along with the rapid development of network services. Agent-oriented computing methods provide a flexible system that responds to various service requests. Moreover, agents can study the best action from results of past actions through “Learning” skill. Nevertheless, training agent system developers to have the development skill of “Learning” agent takes a long time and great effort. As a solution to this difficulty, we propose a tutorial for training agent system developers to have the development skill of “Learning” agent. Then we verify the effectiveness of the tutorial through experimentation.

    The purpose of this research is to create a disaster mitigation system where robots autonomously perform evacuation guidance as substitute for human beings. In this paper, in order to acquire knowledge for creating a guidance robot in a real environment, the function and performance of the guidance robot are changed using multi-agent simulation, and which elements greatly influence the experimental results was analyzed statistically.

    In recent years, information about research progress has become more obtainable by virtue of internet technology and the promotion of open science. Nevertheless, many steps are necessary to collect such information adequately. Research summaries alone require much time and effort. For this study, we propose a system that collects information about individual laboratories, and which then analyzes and provides information as a single site automatically. As a prototype system, we developed important functions such as research keyword extraction, identifying laboratories that conduct similar research, and web site analysis of research abstract text. This report describes the experiment and evaluation of the proposed system.

    Detection of seismic radiation emitted from the earth's crust can be used for predicting earthquakes. We have been observing electromagnetic (EM) waves in the extremely low frequency (ELF) band. However, the database of seismic radiation signals is not large enough for developing detection methods for anomalous signals from the EM wave data. Previous studies on anomaly detection based on hidden Markov model yielded good results but have not addressed certain problems with the input data. In this paper, we discuss these problems and propose a revised method which achieves better performance in detecting anomalous signals from the waveform images of the ELF magnetic signals.
